HOT TAPPING

 As the industrial world becomes more competitive, the resistance to shutting down units or plants to perform retrofits and tie-ins increases. Hot Tapping is one solution to this problem.

OSS has the equipment locally to perform up to 12-inch hot taps.

OSS represents PMI Limited (UK) that have equipment to perform hot taps above 12-inch and also to perform line stops up to 24-inch.

Hot tapped at four locations on a 5-star hotel network of water lines to provide tie-in thereby eliminating a complete draining of system

 CORROSION & CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT                            

In the oil and gas industry production Integrity Management plays a major part to ensure the assets are protected.

Corrosion engineering is an important facet where the expertise sometimes does not reside within the company’s human resource database. Expertise in this area is then required during project design and also for on-going asset integrity management.

Also, chemical corrosion inhibition is a major part of internal corrosion mitigation. As well chemical treatment programs are critical to the operation in other areas– scale control for water-containing systems, hydrate inhibition for gas systems, demulsification for oil water separation both onshore and offshore etc.

OSS has on staff engineers and field resources to completely handle both these areas on a contract basis. This can be for a new operation or for existing assets where ‘getting a handle’ on this area has been problematic.

   PIGGING                                                                                              

OSS has extensive experience in the design of pigging programs for pre-commissioning, routine maintenance and cleanup pigging.

Use of pneumatic tools in Class 1 areas such as production platforms – drilling of holes on pipe and through fittings, cutting of pipe and other structures, use of pneumatic pressure washers.

Oilfield Water, Oil and Solid Separation –

Sale of Monosep hydrocyclones, skimmers, flotation cells etc; service, maintenance and modification of existing water treating equipment.

Discharge Water Testing –

Supply of equipment (rental and sale) for testing oil in water (TPH) for rigs and production platforms. Currently used by bpTT.

Tank & Cargo Box Rental –

Rental of stainless steel and other transport tanks (12 barrel, 20 barrel, 100-barrel etc.) for oil and chemicals for platforms and rigs as well as transport boxes of all sizes.

Pressure Washer rental –

Rental of pneumatic as well as intrinsically safe electric pressure washers suited for drilling rigs and production platforms.

Procurement services –

Because of the experience in oilfield operations and links with US suppliers, we are able to assist in specifying, source and procure specialty or hard-to-find items on short notice (e.g. Wemco spares).

Hydrotesting –

Supply of certified equipment and experienced technicians to perform hydrotesting services for spool pieces, hoses, pipelines and fittings.

Certification of pressure equipment (Pressure & Temperature Recorders, Pressure Gauges, Relief Valve, Manifolds) using our Dead Weight Tester.

• Provide personnel and on-site equipment to hydrotest pipelines, piping, valves and manifolds in the field.

• Rental of certified pressure monitoring equipment.

OIL IN WATER MONITORING                                                     

OSS has on staff the expertise to manage the monitoring of oily water discharges from platforms and other oil producing assets inclusive of:

·        sampling as per approved methods.

·        Use of on-site instrument to measure oil-in-water concentrations.

·        Sale of on-site instruments and training in use.

OSS represents Jorin (UK) who manufactures the ViPA range of Water Quality and Particulate Monitoring Systems. 

The ViPA uses a video microscope to capture images of the particles in a process flow, like the one above.

The camera captures an image of the particles in the liquid flow and analyses this image. Information on the shape, size, optical density and 14 other parameters are recorded for each particle in the image before the data is saved and the next image is captured. This shape information is used to determine:

·        Oil-in-water concentration.

·        Oil droplet size distribution.

·        Solids concentration.

·        Solids particle size distribution.

This unit differs from traditional light scattering techniques in that it does not need to be calibration for a particular stream. It can therefore be moved around to different streams.

  PRODUCED WATER TREATMENT                                       

Companies continue to look for economical ways to treat Produced Water for disposal or re-injection. Both onshore and offshore oil and gas locations face the challenge of installing reliable treatment equipment capable of processing variable flow rates and meeting increasingly stringent discharge criteria.

Compounding this challenge are extreme space limitations on offshore platforms and onshore locations.

OSS represents Monosep of the USA who have incorporated numerous proprietary technologies into their Produced Water treatment systems. These technologies include regenerable media, hydraulic flotation, filtration and Produced Water polishing systems.

OSS has supplied this equipment to British Gas Trinidad & Tobago and to Trinmar Limited.

  REVERSED OSMOSIS                                                             

In the offshore environment and the hotel industry there is a need to economically produce safe drinking water. OSS represents Monosep of the USA who has a patented reverse osmosis system. 

Monosep water systems specializes in:

• Converting seawater into potable or drinking water standards

• Converting seawater into potable water to build water base drilling fluids, completion fluids, etc.

• Treating produced water, frac water and/or pit water into reusable water or treating to NPDES discharge standards

• Treating seawater for Ultra High Pressure (U.H.P.) water blasting for coating operations
