HOT TAPPING
As
the industrial world becomes more competitive, the
resistance to shutting down units or plants to
perform retrofits and tie-ins increases. Hot Tapping
is one solution to this problem.
OSS has the equipment locally
to perform up to 12-inch hot taps.
OSS represents PMI
Limited (UK) that have equipment to perform hot taps above
12-inch and also to perform line stops up to
24-inch.
Inclusive in the pipeline
intervention range of services are:
-
Epoxy shells

-
Clockspring
and composite repairs.
-
Large
diameter polyethylene taps.
-
Advanced
Pressure Testing.
-
Specialist
pipeline consultancy.
OSS had performed hot taps for
some of the majors:
-
British
Gas
-
Bp
-
PLNL
(Nitrogen)
-
Petrotrin.
-
Ferrostaal.
CORROSION
& CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT

In the oil and gas industry
production Integrity Management plays a major part
to ensure the assets are protected.
Corrosion engineering is an
important facet where the expertise sometimes does
not reside within the company’s human resource
database. Expertise in this area is then required
during project design and also for on-going asset
integrity management.
Also, chemical corrosion inhibition
is a major part of internal corrosion mitigation. As
well chemical treatment programs are critical to the
operation in other areas– scale control for
water-containing systems, hydrate inhibition for gas
systems, demulsification for oil water separation
both onshore and offshore etc.
OSS has on staff engineers and
field resources to completely handle both these
areas on a contract basis. This can be for a new
operation or for existing assets where ‘getting a
handle’ on this area has been problematic.
Services provided here include:
· Engineering consultancy – OSS
staff include engineers that have managed major
chemical company accounts
· Field chemical management – OSS
has experienced technicians capable of surveys,
chemical injection
setup and maintenance, on-site
testing and monitoring.
· Preparation of chemical bid
packages, evaluation and award.
· Production chemical training.
OSS is the area representative for
Rohrback Cosasco Systems (RCS),
RCS has been the world leader
in corrosion monitoring since 1950. Corrosion is the
leading cause of process equipment and piping
failure, requiring companies to pay billions of
dollars annually in replacement costs and downtime.
We offer a wide range of solutions to corrosion
problems in a variety of industries, including oil
and gas, petrochemical, water treatment, chemical,
pulp and paper, and pharmaceutical. Since 1990, we
have introduced a continuous stream of products
which help customers obtain and analyze corrosion
data that was previously inaccessible.
Products include internal corrosion
monitoring systems (coupons and probes). Many of the
systems can operate using discrete monitoring as
well as on-line monitoring systems that can be
hooked up to Distributed Control Systems.
OSS can:
·
Supply the products
·
Provide training
·
Install systems via hot tapping.
·
Perform corrosion monitoring services
– high pressure coupon retrieval, data processing,
reporting and recommendations.
·
Corrosion management system design

DOWNHOLE
CHEMICAL INJECTION

In many oilfield
production systems where paraffin, scale, emulsion
and load-up problems occur injecting chemical at the
optimal location (downhole) is very problematic. Gas
lift injection is costly and inefficient and batch
treatment and squeezes are uncertain to produce
results.
OSS represents Dyna-Coil who
will install up to 3/8 inch chemical injection
tubing in through the tubing down to the formation
level where chemical can be applied at the heart of
the problem.
Average installation time is 4
hours.
This type of chemical injection
can result in:
-
Production
increase where downhole emulsions exist,
-
Production
maintenance and/or increase in scale and
paraffin inhibition programs.
-
Re-start
gas wells using foamers.
Currently in R&D is a
product that will allow the continued operation of
the SSSV.

PIGGING

OSS
has extensive experience in the design of pigging
programs for pre-commissioning, routine maintenance
and cleanup pigging.
OSS
services include:
·
provision of pigging technicians,
·
launcher and receiver supply and
installation,
·
pig supply,
·
pig repair and service,
·
pre-commissioning and commissioning
pigging, hydrotesting,
·
chemical treating of hydrotest water,
·
discharge water testing for
environmental compliance,
·
routine maintenance pigging.
OSS represents Pipeline
Engineering a U.K. based pigging design
(commissioning pigging, hydro-testing, maintenance,
rehabilitative & decommissioning pigging, and
consultancy) and supply
(foam, spherical, hard pigs, pig
launchers/receivers, tees, low & high pressure
isolation equipment) company.
OIL IN WATER MONITORING

OSS
has on staff the expertise to manage the monitoring
of oily water discharges from platforms and other
oil producing assets inclusive of:
·
sampling as per approved methods.
·
Use of on-site instrument to measure
oil-in-water concentrations.
·
Sale of on-site instruments and
training in use.
OSS
represents Jorin (UK) who manufactures the ViPA
range of Water Quality and Particulate Monitoring
Systems.

The ViPA uses a
video microscope to capture images of the particles
in a process flow, like the one above.
The camera
captures an image of the particles in the liquid
flow and analyses this image. Information on the
shape, size, optical density and 14
other parameters are recorded for each
particle in the image before the data is saved and
the next image is captured. This shape information
is used to determine:
·
Oil-in-water
concentration.
·
Oil
droplet size distribution.
·
Solids
concentration.
·
Solids
particle size distribution.
This
unit differs from traditional light scattering
techniques in that it does not need to be
calibration for a particular stream. It can
therefore be moved around to different streams.
PRODUCED
WATER TREATMENT

Companies
continue to look for economical ways to treat
Produced Water for disposal or re-injection. Both
onshore and offshore oil and gas locations face the
challenge of installing reliable treatment equipment
capable of processing variable flow rates and
meeting increasingly stringent discharge criteria.
Compounding
this challenge are extreme space limitations on
offshore platforms and onshore locations.
OSS
represents Monosep of the USA who have incorporated
numerous proprietary technologies into their
Produced Water treatment systems. These technologies
include regenerable media, hydraulic flotation,
filtration and Produced Water polishing systems.
OSS
has supplied this equipment to British Gas Trinidad
& Tobago and to Trinmar Limited.
REVERSED
OSMOSIS

In
the offshore environment and the hotel industry
there is a need to economically produce safe
drinking water. OSS represents Monosep of the USA
who has a patented reverse osmosis system.
Monosep
water systems specializes in:
-
Converting seawater into potable or drinking water standards
-
Converting seawater into potable water to build water base drilling
fluids, completion fluids, etc.
-
Treating produced water, frac water and/or pit water into reusable
water or treating to NPDES discharge standards
-
Treating seawater for Ultra High Pressure (U.H.P.) water blasting
for coating operations
-
Manufacturing water systems ranging from 10 B.P.D. to
10,000 B.P.D for rental and purchase
